BEACH TRIP
Posted by stephen on July 13th, 2010We’ll be leaving at 7:30am on Saturday, July 31. If you want to go, please email Drew Henricks at dhenricks@gmail.com by Wednesday, July 28 to let him know if you’d be willing to drive or if you’ll need a ride. Cost is $5 per car, plus $6 for a picnic lunch. Dinner’s on your own by carpooling groups. If you’re riding rather than driving, please bring $10 to help your driver cover gas. There is the possibility of going on kayak and canoe expeditions less than 15 minutes from the beach for $30-$50. Please email Drew if you’re interested.

II. Pray for the Venture Day of Service — Saturday, April 10 at 10 a.m.
A. Pray for Venture people to come serve
B. Pray that the people we serve would be encouraged
C. Pray for the details of the service day to come togetherIII. Pray for the Venture Move to the Phillips School
A. Pray for people to volunteer to serve setting up chairs, doing sound and slides, and taking down chairs one Sunday a month
B. Pray for the Venture staff and volunteers to foresee and trouble-shoot all the details of setting up the service at a new location
C. Pray for the transition to go smoothly for people who attend VentureIV. Pray for IBC Missionaries
A. Pray for the Student Ministries Mission Trips
B. Pray for Ruth Rhinier — teaching in Spain
C. Pray for David & Katie Black as they live in Canada to learn French for their ministry in Niger, Africa

IX. Pray for the People of Chile and Haiti

H. Pray for people to give and for the funds to be used to directly help the people of Chile and Haiti

A. Survivors to be comforted and to get the medicine and supplies they need to get better or to stay healthy
B. Aid workers to have wisdom in knowing how to set up infrastructure to get aid distributed and to provide housing for the displaced

Hopefully you’ve already heard, but this Friday is the Venture Fall Festival. You, your family, small group, and friends are invited to join us on a laid back evening of food, fellowship, and whatever fun our spontaneity may design.
So if you would like to come this Friday evening please let us know by marking your attendence, possibly noting an item that you would be willing to bring, and passing on this invitation to anyone else that you believe would want to join us.
We are planning on having a chili dinner provided by participants in our Chili Contest Cook Off. So if you would like to participate as part of that event please sign up ASAP as the slots will fill up quickly. If you are not able to sign up in time to bring something please check back later, since we may adjust needed items as interest changes.

GET INVOLVED!
Posted by stephen on June 29th, 2009There is a lot of great things going on at Venture and in IBC as a whole! Venture’s small groups are growing! if you are not yet involved one please check out all the different groups we offer. If you are unsure of a group and would like to talk to someone about if feel free to email me at stephen@venture-online.org. I would be more than happy to talk to you about them.
There are also a lot of new events to keep in your calendar, Derek Durkovic and I will be leading a group on August 28-29 to Big Meadows in Shenandoah Park on an overnight Camping Trip. We will be going hiking, making a sweet bon fire and enjoying the great outdoors! in you are interested in attending please sign up on Sunday morning, or email: doc.d.in.dc@gmail.com or stephen@venture-online.org.
We also want everyone to be aware of the Retreat this fall from Oct. 23-25 in Harrisonburg VA. the cost is $120. It is open to all in VENTURE. please email suzanne@venture-online.org with questions.
The Summer Calendar has had to go through some revisions the Screen on the green that was scheduled for July 13th has been cancelled since they Have changed the date and there will be no movie there that night. I recommend everyone find a classic and get together with friends and watch it instead. You could even set it up outside and pretend you are on the National Mall! Also, the TNO at Gravelly Point has moved to Burke Lake Park due to the warnings of no cooking allowed and the airplane noise. Sorry. If people want to go to GP for fun anyway let me know I’m always up for some plane watching!

College Small Group- Mondays at the Glenns’
Posted by danny on May 31st, 2009A small group for college students and those who are college-age is starting Monday, June 1, at 7pm at the Glenn’s house. The address is 6338 River Downs Road, Alexandria, VA 22312. Jordan Danish will be leading a discussion of Claiborne and Haw’s Jesus for President. If you are a college student at IBC or just in town for the summer, come by on Mondays to meet other people and discuss a very challenging and important book. (BTW, you don’t need to have read the book already– and we’ll provide a copy of it for you.) You can contact Danny (danny@venture-online.org) if you have any questions.
